How to export PDF markups and annotations into CSV and Excel

Q: How can I export the comments / annotations added to a PDF document into a CSV file?

A: PDF Studio 2020 and higher has the ability to export comments into multiple formats including CSV which can then be opened with Microsoft Excel. Below are instructions on how to export comments as a CSV file and view them in Excel. 

Exporting Comments as CSV in PDF Studio

  1. Open the document from you wish to export the comments.
  2. There are two ways to export comments as a CSV file
    1. On the menu bar go to Comments->Export->Comments (CSV)
    2. Open the comments pane by clicking on the Comments icon at the bottom left of PDF Studio. Then click on the down arrow to open the export menu and select Comments (CSV)

  3. Select the location that you wish to save the CSV file on your computer and then click Save.

Opening the CSV file in Excel

    1. Open Microsoft Excel
    2. Go to File->Open and then locate the CSV Comment export that you created and open the file.
