PDF Studio supports several features commonly used in print production:

  • Crop Margins & Boxes (Document > Crop Pages)
    • Crop box – the region to which the contents of the page are to be or cropped when displayed or printed.
    • Bleed box – the bounds to which the contents of the page should be clipped when output in a production environment.
    • Trim box – the intended dimensions of the finished page after trimming.
    • Art box – the extent of the page’s meaningful content (including potential white space) as intended by the document creator.
  • Preflight (Document > Preflight) –  verifies the print readiness of a PDF.  PDF/X and PDF/A Preflight checks that all colors are in the proper format, fonts are embedded, and transparency and layers do not exist.
  • Conversion to PDF/A (File > Convert to > PDF/A) – converts a PDF file to PDF/A so it is prepared for long term storage and archival.
  • Imposition (Document > Imposition) – arranges the printed product’s pages on the printer’s sheet in order to print multiple pages on one large sheet of paper to minimize waste when printing the final product.  Supports different layouts and binding methods including: 2, 4, & 8 up booklets; cut stacks; sequential, step and repeat.
  • Tagged PDF (Document > Properties) – indicates whether a document is tagged.
  • Output Preview & Overprint Simulation (View > Output Preview) – simulates how the PDF will look when it prints based on different ICC color profiles (such as CMYK, RGB, and Grey).
  • Interleave (Document > Insert Pages > Insert At > Interleave) – inserts pages between other pages; often to merge odd and even pages back together
  • Page Labels  (Document > Rearrange Pages > Label Pages) – renumbers a set pages using roman numerals, alphanumerics, etc…
