Q: When using the default Ambiance theme in Ubuntu 12.04 and above, the text in the menus is hard to read in the default PDF Studio look and feel. What can I do to fix this?
A: Depending on your version of Ubuntu, The GTK Look & Feel with the default Ambiance theme may not be very readable.
There are 2 ways to resolve this issue in PDF Studio.
Workaround 1: Update GTK Menu Style
You can also update the GTK style to have a darker menu by following the steps below:
- from Terminal, type:sudo gedit /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
- search for: style “menu” (should be on line 338)
- change: style “menu” to style “menu” = “dark”
- Restart PDF Studio.
Workaround 2: Change PDF Studio Look and Feel
PDF Studio comes packaged with multiple look and feels and you can simply choose a different Look and Feel.
To do so, go to Preferences > Display > Look and Feel, select a different option, such as “Nimbus”, and then restart PDF Studio.
