Q: Why doesn’t the text in my PDF change when I use the Replace and Insert text annotations?
A: As defined in the PDF specification, these annotations are to be used by reviewers to indicate to the original author of the PDF document any needs to be replaced or inserted.
In a typical review cycle, a reviewer will add these annotations to a PDF document and send the PDF document back to the author. The author will make the appropriate corrections in the document. To do so, the author will either work directly in PDF format but more generally go back to the original document (a .doc, for instance), edit the document, then regenerate the PDF document. The author will then send back the “final” PDF document for review to the reviewer again.
