On Mac OSX, an alias is a pointer file that allows you to quickly open a frequently used file, folder, server, or application.

In PDF Studio’s file open dialog, aliases are grayed out as if inactive. However, it is still possible to double-click on an alias to open the file or folder referenced by it.
